Adventure Race 5:

We’re finally back with the 5th edition of our Adventure Race. Packed full of all the classic twists and turns of previous challenges.  We can neither confirm or deny whether there will be appearances from previous stars of the show. Rumours are that Mr Grumpy might make a cameo,  the Hunters may dust off their mudguards and that ‘The Chauffeur’ may have gone rogue. Of course we’ll inject some new and frankly odd challenges to put your team under pressure.

We’re back at our wonderful Longland’s Farm and for those new to the Adventure Race you’ll have a whopping 4-hour window to discover this wonderful landscape as you attempt to find and collect as many checkpoints as you can.

There are two options, either sign up as an individual (and we’ll match you in a team of 3 runners with a similar running pace) or sign up as a team of 3.

We will announce final teams 48 hours prior to the event via Facebook and Email. The start time is yet to be confirmed but is likely to be 12.15 for a 1pm run start, a 5pm finish and then some post-challenge grub and fizzy pop.

Longland’s Farm is a wonderful place to hang out for a few hours enjoying the hub of activity that will be going on during the Adventure Race so feel free to invite your friends and family to support or help out.

RACE BRIEF:

The full race brief will be held at Longlands Farm 40-ish minutes before the race begins, and as always and with tradition, Race maps will still be issued 3 minutes before the start of the race.

End of Race, Awards and Social

Once teams have arrived back to the start/finish line and handed in their race results, the Riot team will input all the points into the database to work out the final standings. This can take a fair amount of time, especially as most teams will arrive back at a similar time. Therefore we invite you to stay on, enjoy the post run grub, share stories and curse ‘those pesky Hunters’.

INDIVIDUAL = £15

If you want to participate but you haven’t got a team then don’t worry, we will match you with a team closer to the event. 

TEAMS = £45

If you have a team of 3 already organised then use this option to sign the full team in. If you choose this option, please make one payment of £45 rather than 3 individual payments to make it easier on the admin team.

What is an Adventure Race?

Teams of 3 runners will have 4 hours to accumulate as many points as they can. You collect points by visiting checkpoints marked on a map that is handed to you shortly before the start of the race. MOST of the checkpoints will be found on footpaths.

There is also an ADDED incentive of gaining more points by tackling the ‘extra challenges’ that will be marked on the map. While not compulsory, the exact nature of the challenges are kept a secret until you arrive at each location.

Handicap system

You can make a team with friends OR we can add you to a team, either way teams will be made up of different running abilities and we want to make it an even playing field throughout.

There is a handicap system is in place to encourage those that feel that running for 4 hours is perhaps beyond them and while yes it’s a long time, in reality you are only looking at running around 8-12 miles and there are many times you will need to stop to read maps and carry out challenges. This is not simply about running, so it’s worth considering that when compiling your team.
